What a start to the new year with the arrival of our already beloved Largo Castaway Sauna!
What a start to the new year with the arrival of our already beloved Largo Castaway Sauna. It has been quite the adventure up to this point and it’s only set to become more exciting from here on in. We are absolutely delighted with the finished product thanks to Chris and Gav (and Gav’s son, James) from CE Jaggard, The sauna has been finished to such a high spec and the wood has now been given a good coat of paraffin oil by Steve and I to bring out the wonderful colour of the thermo pine on the walls and floor, and grain of the beautifully smooth aspen wood on the benches and surrounds.
The next few weeks will be devoted to making the area around the sauna fit to house the sauna itself so we will be completing the fence work and putting in a shed (for us to sit during inclement weather!) with a little (a lot) of help from our good pal, Ewan Pearson. We will then bring in the turf to recover the ground surrounding the sauna and the chill out space, and put our trusted arrow sign back where it belongs.
The Narvi 30 sauna stove care of Finnmark has been lit and we will continue to carry out trials over the next couple of weeks so it is sauna ready with temperatures of 70° C and above. Photos will be taken by Frazer at Studio Flamingo to add to our website and the booking system (Fareharbor) will go live in the next few days for our opening date of Saturday 1 February 2025!
Social sessions and private sessions will be available to book alongside gift vouchers. If people wish to book the sauna for longer sessions, this can be accommodated as well as booking for birthdays, weddings and retreats. Other experiences such as sunrise and sunset saunas, yoga sessions and the like may be added as requested or as opportunities arise. We are always up for suggestions!
Largo Castaway Sauna awaits you… Steve and I cannot wait to welcome you!
